Sherwin Williams Natural Tan Paint Color Review

Sherwin Williams Natural Tan (SW 7567)is the newest paint color trending on Pinterest, and I’m here for it.

It is a great neutral that isn’t too dark, isn’t too light, has subtle undertones, and seamlessly blends into the background of a home while providing just a touch of color.

Let’s dive into all the details on Natural Tan to figure out if its the right paint color for your home.

Natural Tan is a neutral paint color that will appear to most people as a beige.

Beiges are back in a big way, so Natural Tan is right on the money with its look. But Natural Tan gives a beige look without the pink or orange undertones that bring back early 2000’s vibes.

Really though, a color isn’t a true beige if it doesn’t have some bit of orange or pink in it.

Natural Tan has green undertones – and this means it is actually a tan, as the name implies. But, the word “tan” brings about a very different look than what Natural Tan gives, so don’t let that bring about any hesitation.

The green undertones in Natural Tan as subtle and reserved. On your walls, you really won’t see them.

In addition to a green undertone, Natural Tan also has a gray undertone. And this is where the magic really happens with Natural Tan. A touch of gray gives it a sophisticated, soft, muted beige look that feels modern.

So, to sum it up, Natural Tan is a tan (beige) paint color with green and gray undertones.

While paint trends have been leaning towards neutrals with pink or purple undertones, the popularity of Natural Tan seems to indicate that maybe this trend is beginning to fade, and people are shifting away from the more feminine neutrals.

I love it, because while I enjoy a good light taupe, I find a neutral with a green/gray undertone shifts the color palette of the home completely.

Here is what I would pair with Natural Tan.

What Colors Go With Natural Tan

Paint Colors That Go With Natural Tan Sherwin Williams - Alabaster, Westhighland White, Rare Gray

Sherwin Williams recommends a few paint colors to coordinate with Natural Tan.

For a white, Alabaster is a soft, creamy white that could be used on adjacent walls or on trim alongside Natural Tan.

For a light neutral, Westhighland White perfectly coordinates with Natural Tan. It can be used on woodwork, adjacent walls or adjacent rooms.

For a coordinating shade with some depth, Sherwin Williams recommends Rare Gray. This darker midtone can be used on accent spaces, or even a whole room that you want to give some visual interest (I’m thinking library, office, etc.).

Really, it can work with a lot of light neutrals that are lighter than it. Some other good examples are Creamy, Pure White, or Oyster White.

It also is a great color to pair with blues, greens, blue greens, blues with a gray undertone, and darker neutrals with similar undertones.

Where to Use Sherwin Williams Natural Tan

Natural Tan has an LRV of 65. This means that it is just about the perfect depth for any space.

It isn’t so light that a lot of sunlight will wash it out. It isn’t so dark that it will make a hallway with no windows look darker.

Additionally, because it is very neutral, it can be used in any room of the home.

I love Natural Tan as a foundational color for a whole home. It works in an open floor plan, or in small spaces.

In southern facing rooms that have warm sunlight, Natural Tan will lean warmer and beige. In cooler, Northern facing rooms, Natural Tan will lean into the gray undertone and be a bit more muted.

Either presentation is beautiful though, and it never really gets too warm because it doesn’t have pink or orange undertones.

So, Natural Tan is great for living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways, office… really, anywhere.

Final Thoughts on Sherwin Williams Natural Tan

Personally, I am on the hunt for a paint color for my new home, and Natural Tan is definitely on my shortlist.

It is perfectly neutral, not too dark, but will still hide some of the dirty fingerprints that tend to come with a child-filled home.

It is peaceful, modern and effortlessly elevates the look of any home style.
