Outdoor Entertaining Essentials Guide

With the gorgeous spring/summer weather, it is time to think about your outdoor entertaining area.

Whether you need to create a new outdoor entertaining space, or just spruce up your current arrangement, you are bound to find something on this list that will help to turn your backyard into an inviting retreat for you and your guests.

Here are the top things you need to create a welcoming outdoor entertainment space.

Solo Stove Smokeless Fire Pit

Are you familiar with Solo Stoves? They are specially designed fire pits that create a nearly smokeless experience. No more trying to get away from the path of the smoke.

Solo Stoves come in a variety of sizes.

The smallest is the Ranger, which is perfect for someone who wants a portable fire pit.

I have seen this size, and its not great for having a bunch of guests over to enjoy the fire, but its perfect for camping.

If you would like something that is more the size of a standard fire pit, the Bonfire or Yukon are larger options that create more of a focal point, and large enough for you and your guests to enjoy.

The Bonfire is the midsize firepit, and the Yukon is the largest, most impressive one. They all function the same, and the difference is really only how large the Solo Stove is around.

When I saw my first Solo Stove a few years ago, I didn’t understand what all the hype was about.

But, after using one and seeing just how much more enjoyable the fire was without all the smoke, I can see why Solo Stoves have gotten such a cult following in recent years.

Outdoor Serving Carts

While not entirely necessary, outdoor serving carts lend a certain upscale feel to your cookout or bonfire.

In addition, they make it so much easier to get the space set up before everyone is there.

You can stack the serving cart with plates, silverware, napkins, drinks and more. Some of these sets even have specific places for storing each item.

Before you buy a set, be sure to consider what it is made out of. Teak and metal are great outdoor materials because they are weatherproof and functional.

Here are some of my favorite outdoor serving carts.

Outdoor Lighting

Lighting is the key to making any space feel warm and inviting, even outdoor spaces.

When afternoon turns into evening, string lights or floor lamps make the space feel magical.

These outdoor lighting options will not only make it easy for your family and guest to see, they will also create an environment of relaxation.

Dishes and Serveware

While some people may be brave enough to use glassware outside, most prefer to stick with a plastic material such as melamine for their outdoor dishes.

Melamine dishes last forever, and look great. They are easy to wash and are pretty hard to break, even for children.

Complete the look with new glasses, a pitcher for lemonade or tea, silverware and serving dishes.

Outdoor Pillow Covers

Outdoor pillows are the perfect way to bring a little bit of color into your space.

Just like in the home, outdoor pillows make the seating more comfortable. Plus, they tend to make a space feel more inviting.

Outdoor pillow covers can be machine washed and swapped out if you decide to change the decor. You can make them last even longer by bringing them in during bad weather and the off-season.

Here are some gorgeous options to check out.

Outdoor Seating

If you’re in the market for new outdoor seating, these pieces are on trend and beautiful.

Again, remember that the type of material you choose matters, because the outdoor furniture will have to survive wind, rain and more.

And, if you can get a set with washable covers, that’s even better!

Outdoor Rugs

Using an outdoor rug gives your outdoor seating area a bit more style.

They create ambience and bring warmth to the outdoor eating or sitting space. Plus, outdoor rugs defines the space in a way that makes the space feel cohesive and unified.

Outdoor rugs are more durable than indoor rugs, and can typically be washed with a hose or pressure washer.

Here are some pretty outdoor rugs (you can even use outdoor rugs inside if you want!).

Outdoor Games

If you are looking for something to do while you are outside entertaining (or maybe need something for your kids to do while you’re outside entertaining), check out these yard games!

Yard games make being outside a little more fun for everyone.
