Ten Eye-Catching Farmhouse Bathrooms Ideas
A farmhouse bathroom is one of the most coveted looks right now. But in years past, the bathroom wasn’t really a place with a particular style. It was more seen as a functional space to do your business. Well, along with many other things, Fixer Upper turned that idea on it’s head. The bathroom is now a place to make your own, and fill with the style you love – farmhouse!
But how do we get that look?
There are a few key elements you need to have – wood, greenery, glass, metal and white. Keep reading for some of my favorite farmhouse bathroom ideas.
Before we get into the nuts and bolts of farmhouse bathroom ideas though, lets get inspired!
Take a look at these amazing farmhouse style bathrooms.
First up is this bathroom from My Life From Home. It shows off the patterned tile that is so hot right now. Find out below how to get that look on a budget. I also love how they used baskets for both style and function.
I love all the white in this bathroom that Angela Marie Made did. It incorporates a little of the cottage style, with that beadboard vanity. And who doesn’t love board and batten walls? Gorgeous!
Feeling inspired yet? Good! Lets get down to it!
Here are ten farmhouse bathroom ideas that you can get started on today!

1. Add a shiplap, board and batten or pallet wall.
One of the nice things about a shiplap wall is that you can just do it on a part of the room. That little wall behind the toilet is the perfect place to put a shiplap or pallet wall. Its easy to do, requires just a few tools, and can be finished in a day or two. Before you get started though, check out my list of things to know before you shiplap a wall.
2. Put up some shelving.
Shelves are a great way to get more storage in our bathroom, while adding interest to some of the open wall space.
3. Add decorative and functional things to your shelf.
Mixing different textures, such as a wooden basket and those glass apothecary jars (which are perfect for holding cotton balls, q-Tips and bath salts), is one of the keys to getting the farmhouse look! Plus, using lots of containers will help you keep your bathroom organized!
4. Update your lighting.
Changing the lights in a room can really save it from that builder grade look. Its not hard to change a light fixture (seriously, YouTube it), and it’ll change the whole look of the room! Since there are so many great styles of farmhouse bathroom lights, I couldn’t narrow it down!
Oh, and while you’re at it, pick up some Edison bulbs. You won’t find them cheaper anywhere else (believe me, I’ve looked!).
5. Add some wood touches.
There are a lot of different ways to add wood to your bathroom. You can make a own wood vanity top. Or, you can put a wood framed mirror over the vanity. If you’re handy, you can find an amazing old wood dresser, cut a hole in the top, and drop a farmhouse sink. On that note…
6. Add a farmhouse sink.
7. Pick the perfect metal.
Oil rubbed bronze, brushed nickel, chrome, black, or galvanized… whatever you like! Any of it can be farmhouse! You can even mix and match them like they did in the pictures above.
8. Lay new tile, or stencil your current floor.
Laying you own tile is a little tricky, but definitely do-able! Check out my tips for tiling here. Or, for an easy (but time consuming) update, stencil your floor. I LOVE the way these look when they are done, and you can pick any style and color you like! Check out how the Bright Green Door did it here!
9. Add some greenery.
Since most bathrooms don’t have a window, these fake versions are a good choice. Or, put some fresh flowers in a vase for a real treat!
10. And last, choose your favorite decor.
Farmhouse decor is everywhere these days. You can buy is, thrift it, or DIY it. Gather a few treasures and stage them around the bathroom, and you’re done!
