Salisbury Green, by Benjamin Moore, is the hottest trending paint color right now. It is a mid-tone green that is as classic as it is in vogue.
It is a part of Benjamin Moore’s Historic Collection, possibly as a reference to the Salisbury Green castle in Scotland. Whatever the case, the color Salisbury Green, HC-139, has been around for a long time.
So why is it so popular now? Well, design trends have been shifting towards earthy greens for a while now.
In fact, in 2022 both Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore chose greens as their paint colors for the Color of the Year distinction. Sherwin Williams went with a deeper green called Evergreen Fog, while Benjamin Moore chose a sage green that is very similar in depth to Salisbury Green called October Mist.
Since it takes a bit of time for most people to catch up to the designs trends that designers put forward, the rest of the world is now ready to embrace a mid-tone green in their home.
If you are wondering if Salisbury Green is the right paint color for your walls, cabinets or exterior, keep reading for all the details.
All the Details on Benjamin Moore Salisbury Green
Salisbury Green is a mid-tone green, meaning its not too bright but its also not too dark. It leans more towards the lighter end of paint colors though, but has too much depth to be considered a pastel. It is right in the sweet spot of paint colors, where it shows up as a saturated true color but doesn’t look too bold.
Salisbury Green is a muted green though, and not a pure green either. It is actually a blue green with gray undertones.
I always love gray undertones in a paint color because they help to make paint colors look mature and sophisticated. A paint color without gray in it tends to look bright and juvenile, while a dash a gray softens it.
Salisbury Green is a refined blue green paint color. It is gorgeous in a lot of settings.
Salisbury Green is great on walls, as an accent, on a home exterior or even on cabinets.

Salisbury Green Paint Palettes
Benjamin Moore suggests a few different paint palettes to use with Salisbury Green.
The first paint palette is made up of Classic Gray, Gloucester Sage and Salisbury Green.
Classic Gray is a light, off-white paint color that shifts back and forth between looking beige and looking gray, depending on the lighting. It is a very pleasant neutral.
Gloucester Sage is a dark, brownish green shade that provides balance to this color scheme.
The second paint color palette is comprised of Chantilly Lace, Abalone and Salisbury Green.
Chantilly Lace is a very crisp, bright white paint color. It has no discernible undertones and is beautiful on trim, doors, and woodwork.
Abalone is a light gray that has a pink undertone. The pink in Abalone compliments Salisbury Green perfectly while still looking neutral.
