Benjamin Moore Collingwood Paint Color

Collingwood is a soft, gray paint color that falls in the greige category of grays. Greige paint colors are a mix of gray and beige.

Collingwood is on the lighter side of paint colors, but still has a bit of depth to it. Collingwood isn’t a super light gray, but I wouldn’t quite consider it a mid-tone gray either.

Benjamin Moore Collingwood is a very classic, sophisticated type of paint color. It works in many different style homes, including traditional, transitional, modern, contemporary, farmhouse, cottage and more.

Benjamin Moore Collingwood LRV

Collingwood has an LRV of 62. The LRV scale goes from 1, which is completely black, to 100, which is completely white. As you can see, an LRV of 62 is trending more towards the middle of the scale.

But, it is still considered a light paint color that will work in the light of a typical home.

All gray paint colors have undertones of either green, blue, purple, pink and/or beige. The trick to finding a gray paint color that works in your home is finding one that has undertones that go with the other tones in your space, and that you like.

For example, a gray with purple undertones doesn’t go great in a home with honey oak floors. The colors play off each other in a way that accentuates the purple of the gray paint color. Now, if you want purple walls, this is fine. But, if you want a soft gray, you’ll probably be displeased to find that they look like a light lavender.

So, all that to say, choose a gray paint color that has undertones that you can live with if they happen to show.

Collingwood is a gray paint color that has purple undertones. They aren’t super pronounced, but you can see them in the right lighting or if other colors in the room highlight them.

Collingwood also has a bit of beige in it. It doesn’t have so much beige that it looks beige on your walls, but when you compare it to a true cool gray, you see that it also has a bit of a beige undertone.

Is Benjamin Moore Collingwood Warm or Cool?

With that beige undertone, Collingwood is a warm gray paint color. It isn’t super warm though. Rather, it just leans that way a bit. Because of this, Collingwood works well both cooler northern facing rooms, and warmer southern facing rooms.

Collingwood is warm with being too warm, providing just enough subtle warmth to make a room feel comfortable.

What Number is Collingwood?

As I mentioned earlier, Collingwood is a part of two different color collections. This means that it has two different codes or identifiers.

Originally, Collingwood was identified as 859 in Benjamin Moore’s Classic Colors collection. It was later given the code OC-28 when Benjamin Moore included it in their Off-Whites collection.

Don’t worry though, whether you as for 859 Collingwood or OC-28 Collingwood, you’ll get the same paint color.

Trim Colors for Benjamin Moore Collingwood

Collingwood goes well with a few different trim colors.

First, Collingwood looks amazing with Chantilly Lace. Chantilly Lace is a very clean, bright white paint color that is almost undertone-free. This makes it the perfect trim color for almost any paint color.

Another great trim color for Collingwood is Simply White. Simply White is a white paint color with a bit of yellow and a hint of gray in it. If it is the whitest white in the room, it will look perfectly white. You’ll only notice that it has a bit of softness to it when you compare it to a cleaner white (such as Chantilly Lace).

If you like a white trim but want something that isn’t white so bright, Simply White is a good option.

Where Can I Use Benjamin Moore Collingwood?

Collingwood is a great paint color for almost anywhere in the house. It works in living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, bathrooms, entryways, and more. Because it isn’t super dark, you can even use it in basements.

It also is a great shade for an open floor plan, because it is light and neutral but still a bit interesting.

Collingwood works as a foundational color for a whole house color scheme as well. You can use it in main living areas and then paint separate rooms or accent walls in coordinating shades.

Coordinating Colors for Benjamin Moore Collingwood

Collingwood goes well with darker grieges with similar undertones, grays, blacks, creams, whites, navy blues, some pinks, and dark reds.

Here are two coordinating color schemes for Benjamin Moore Collingwood.

First, Collingwood is paired with Taos Taupe, a darker greige/taupe paint color, and Mars Red, a deep burnt red paint color. Together, this color scheme demonstrates how Collingwood can work well with bold, punchy sort of colors.

Revere Pewter is a greige paint color that leans more towards beige than gray. It is a tiny bit darker than Collingwood, though not super noticeably.

When you compare Revere Pewter to Collingwood, you see that Revere Pewter has more of a green undertone. Also, Revere Pewter has much more beige in it than Collingwood does.

This makes Revere Pewter a warmer shade than Collingwood. Collingwood looks more like a gray compared to Revere Pewter’s beige.

If you’re trying to decide between Revere Pewter and Collingwood, go for Revere Pewter if you want a warmer shade to balance out cooler light or to go with warmer tones. Choose Collingwood if you want a more gray paint color that leans warm but isn’t too beige.

Benjamin Moore Collingwood vs. Balboa Mist

Balboa Mist is a lighter paint color than Collingwood, but similar in many ways.

Balboa Mist is another greige paint color with purple undertones. The purple in Balboa Mist is a little more pronounced than the purple in Collingwood though. When you compare the two together, Collingwood looks a bit more gray.

If you are confident that a greige with a purple undertone is what you want, both Balboa Mist and Collingwood are great options.

Edgecomb Gray is a third greige paint color by Benjamin Moore. While Collingwood leans more towards gray, Edgecomb Gray hints a bit more towards beige.

In fact, when you compare Collingwood to Edgecomb Gray, Edgecomb Gray looks like a beige and Collingwood looks like a gray. On their own though, each can show up as a warm gray.

Agreeable Gray is a Sherwin Williams greige paint color. It is extremely popular. Like Collingwood, Agreeable Gray leans more gray than beige.

Collingwood and Agreeable Gray are fairly similar. They have about the same depth, and have a similar blend of gray and beige. Agreeable Gray has green undertones though, while Collingwood has purple.
