2025 brings a whole year of new possibilities, and with that, new paint color trends.
I have been studying paint color trends for years now, and have seen it all (except oranges… we haven’t gone there yet in recent history). One thing that I have learned is that paint color trends strongly mirror fashion trends. So, if you’re seeing a lot of certain color on the runways, you’re likely also going to see it in home decor.
Trending paint colors don’t change quite as frequently as trending clothing colors, but we do see definite shifts from time to time.
For example, in the 90s/2000s we had beiges, followed by the grays of the early 2000s, and then the ever popular greiges, and finally the whites era.
But this year, home trends are moving towards bold, saturated colors. Dark reds, lush greens, muted creams and beiges, and warm neutrals are taking the stage, creating dramatic spaces that are infused with color.
If you are tired of the stark whites, the cool grays and the light and airy layered creams and whites, this year is for you.
Here are the shades that I predict we will see a lot more of in 2025: Earthy neutrals, dark reds, soft and mid-tone greens, muted blues, soft pastels with a retro vibe, and charcoal grays.
(And you don’t just have to take my word for it. These predictions are based on the 2025 Colors the Year, chosen by designers at the major paint companies).
Earthy Neutrals
Earthy neutrals can include warm taupes, muted sands, beiges, and more.
Earth tones are popular because they infuse a space with calm and stability. They bring a warmth and grounding to the space, welcoming all who enter with a serene vibe.
In particular, we are seeing beiges being paired with unexpected pops of color for a more personalized, eclectic look. Accent colors like teal, mustard, or terracotta bring a balance of warmth and vibrancy. This trend is about balancing neutral calm with creative flair.

A few of my favorite earthy neutrals are:
- Benjamin Moore Ballet White
- Sherwin Williams Alpaca
- Benjamin Moore Manchester Tan
- Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze
Earth tone paint colors work well in living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms, creating a timeless, sophisticated vibe.

Dark Reds
Dark reds, including burgandys, wines, rusts and crimsons, are gaining popularity in 2025 paint color trends. These shades add warmth, depth, and drama to spaces, and they’re often paired with muted or neutral tones to create a balance.
Behr recently selected a shade called Rumors to be their 2025 Color of the Year.

A few popular dark red paint colors for 2025 are:
- Benjamin Moore New London Burgandy
- Sherwin Williams Polished Mahogany
- Behr Rumors
Dark red paint colors are best used in living rooms, dining rooms and other communal living spaces where they bring a vibrant energy to the space.
Soft and Mid-tone Greens
Greens are huge in home design right now. I’m talking sage, mint, olive and moss shades. These colors lend a feeling of renewal and hint towards nature.

Softer greens can give a relaxed, tranquil atmosphere, while darker greens will bring a natural element to a space.
Some of the best greens for 2025 are:
- Sherwin Williams Dried Thyme
- Benjamin Moore October Mist
- Sherwin Williams Evergreen Fog
- Benjamin Moore Salisbury Green
Green paint colors traditionally used in bathrooms, bedrooms or on exteriors, but currently they are being showcased in living rooms, on cabinets, and accent walls of all types.

Muted Blues
Muted blues came into favor in the past few years, and they are still hot for 2025.

Blue is a timeless shade that has staying power, making it a great way to have a home that is both timeless and on trend. Blues give off a peaceful, collected feeling without overwhelming a space.
Some of my all-time favorite blues for 2025 are:
- Sherwin Williams Upward
- Benjamin Moore Beacon Gray
- Sherwin Williams Indigo Batik
- Benjamin Moore New Hope Gray
Blues are great in bedrooms, home offices, and any living space. They create cool, relaxing enviroments that welcome relaxation and mindfulness.
Here is a list of more great muted blues.
Soft Pastels with a Retro Vibe
Soft pastels are super hot right now. Dusty rose, muted peach, grayed out lavenders, and more are taking the design space by storm.
These reimagined pastels bring sophistication and a muted color palette that offers a touch of nostalgia without feeling like your grandmother’s house.

Some trending pastels for 2025 are:
- Benjamin Moore Cinnamon Slate
- Sherwin Williams Redend Point
- Sherwin Williams Persimmon
Pastels work great in bedrooms, nurseries, or kitchens for a gentle, romantic vibe.
Here are some gorgeous blush pink paint colors that fit into this trend.
Rich Charcoals & Deep Grays
Dark grays, charcoals, slates and gunmetals are another trending shade for 2025. Deep, moody grays offer dramatic contrasts to lighter wood shades and soft metallics. They tend to work well in modern, minimalistic spaces, but also can be used in more traditional settings as well.

Some great deep grays are:
Dark grays are best used on accent walls, in home offices, or in dining rooms for a chic look.

The 2025 paint color trends really seek to balance warmth, serenity and natural hues with a focus on creating personal, comforting spaces.
Whether you’re drawn to the earthy tones, retro pastels or deep moody colors, they all will give your home a modern, elevated look, perfect for 2025.
