Before we get into the 25 most popular paint colors though, I wanted to take a moment to discuss Sherwin Williams’ choices for the 2025 Colors of the Year.
The Color of the Year designation goes to a paint shade that the designers at Sherwin Williams have selected to be both inspirational and on trend in 2025.
This year, Sherwin Williams chose a color capsule, meaning that they chose a palette of shades instead of just one. The capsule includes:

- SW 9585 – Sunbleached – a grayish white
- SW 0073 – Chartreuse – a yellowish green
- SW 6390 Bosc Pear – a yellow and brown blend

Because Sherwin Williams chose to create a palette of paint colors to represent 2025, there is something on the list for everyone. Overall, the capsule favors a warm neutral hue, but also includes some pops of muted color.
Despite these paint colors being chosen by Sherwin Williams as their 2025 Color Capsule of the Year, they are not necessarily the most popular paint colors for Sherwin Williams. In fact, not a single color is actually included in Sherwin Williams top 25 paint colors.
So what colors are actually the most popular for 2025?

Sherwin Williams Pure White is my favorite white to use when I want a white paint color that isn’t too stark or too creamy. With its hints of gray and yellow undertones, SW Pure White looks a little more muted than some other other crisper whites.
But, Pure White will never look gray or yellow. Instead, these undertones lend some softness.
It is Sherwin Williams’ most popular paint color in 2025 because it works equally well on trim, woodwork and walls.

Agreeable Gray SW 7029
Agreeable Gray is a hugely popular paint color by Sherwin Williams. In fact, it has been its most popular actual color (not a white paint shade) for over 10 years now.
Agreeable Gray is a blend of beige and gray, which means that it is considered a greige paint color. This subtle and pleasant paint color has a mild green undertone which gives it its earthy sort of look.
Agreeable Gray can be used all over the house as it is a great neutral that isn’t too dark or too light.

Alabaster SW 7008
Sherwin Williams Alabaster is a beautiful, soft white with delicate yellow and gray undertones that blend to create a nearly perfect warm white.
It has just the right amount of warmth to avoid feeling harsh, but not so much yellow that it comes across as too bright or sunny. The result is a subtle, refined look.
Many people love Alabaster for trim because of its softer, more nuanced white tone, but I also adore it on walls for its understated elegance.

Repose Gray SW 7015
Repose Gray by Sherwin Williams is a versatile greige—an elegant blend of gray and beige. While it’s a warm color, it isn’t the warmest greige available.
This is because Repose Gray has subtle blue undertones, which place it on the cooler end of the warm spectrum. Compared to other greiges like Agreeable Gray, Repose Gray leans a bit cooler, making it a great option if you are looking for a more balanced, neutral tone.

Sherwin Williams City Loft is a warm off-white paint color with a subtle, very light taupe quality.

Tricorn Black doesn’t have any offensive undertones. It won’t be too blue, too green or too anything else. It just looks like a perfect black paint color.

Passive is a soft gray paint color that has blue undertones. While many of the grays on this list are on the warmer end of the spectrum, Passive is decidedly cool.
